Alert: Phishing Scams Masquerade as Courier Services via iMessage

Stay informed about recent phishing scams using Apple iMessage to impersonate courier companies.

Beware of Coronary Messages

In Singapore, authorities are warning residents to be cautious of suspicious messages received via Apple iMessage that claim to be from courier companies. Reports indicate an uptick in phishing scams where scammers impersonate well-known delivery services, including TracX Logis, uParcel, and Park N Parcel.

How the Scam Works

These phishing attempts often come from international phone numbers or email addresses that appear unusual. For example, the messages may show country codes from places like Cambodia (+855), Vietnam (+84), North America (+1), the Philippines (+63), or feature random strings of characters in the email addresses.

The fraudulent messages typically inform recipients that their parcel delivery has failed due to an incorrect address. To rectify this issue, recipients are pressured to update their address by following a link purportedly leading to the courier’s legitimate website, with indications that action must be taken urgently—sometimes by 6 PM or within a very short timeframe.

Deceptive Links and Requests

In some cases, the scammers even include the real customer service phone number of the courier company to add a layer of credibility. Additionally, certain messages invite the recipient to reply with “Y” to receive a clickable link, further enticing them to engage.

Once clicked, these links redirect users to a fraudulent website that closely mimics the official site of the courier service. On these plagiarized sites, victims are prompted to pay a small fee for 'redelivery services'—a legitimate-sounding claim that masks their ulterior motive.

Protect Yourself

To avoid falling victim to such scams, the police have issued several recommendations. First and foremost, do not respond to any iMessages that seem suspicious. Validate any courier-related messages or links by using the official ScamShield app or by visiting the courier's real website directly.

Additionally, always verify any payment requests or information through official contact details rather than the ones provided in suspicious messages.

Apple users should ensure that their devices are equipped with the latest software updates to protect themselves against potential scams.

Unfortunately, scams have been rampant in Singapore, with reported losses of a staggering $410.6 million in the first half of 2026 alone. Among these, e-commerce scams were particularly prevalent, with statistics showing 3,865 incidents resulting in losses exceeding $8 million.

Stay vigilant and informed to safeguard your information and finances.
