Strive Expands Bitcoin Holdings by $335 Million with New Investment
Strive has significantly increased its Bitcoin reserves after securing $369 million from investors, purchasing over 4,000 BTC.
Strive, a public company listed on Nasdaq, has made headlines by acquiring a substantial amount of Bitcoin as a treasury asset. According to a recent regulatory filing, the company purchased 4,045 BTC from October 12 to 16, 2023, valued at approximately $335 million.
Recent Purchase Details
The average price paid for these coins was around $82,803 each, increasing Strive's total Bitcoin holdings to 36,818 BTC, up from 32,773 BTC just a week prior. The total value of these holdings now exceeds $3 billion based on current market rates.
Funding Mechanism
This latest acquisition was funded through a growing trend where public companies utilize investor cash to boost their Bitcoin purchases. Strive benefit from a cycle where shareholders buy company shares, allowing the firms to invest surplus in Bitcoin.
Specifically, the funds stemmed from the exercise of 273,493,909 warrants on October 12 and 13, leading to the issuance of 13,674,703 new Class A shares. This move raised around $369.2 million. However, the remaining warrants expired without being exercised on October 13, according to the filing, which also noted that no traditional warrants are currently active.
Impact on Shareholders
The number of Class A shares increased from 101.2 million to 114.8 million within just a week, marking a rise of about 13.5%. This expansion could dilute existing shareholders' stakes unless the newly acquired capital is leveraged effectively to grow the company's value. As of now, Strive's cash position stands at $317.5 million, reflecting a $7.2 million increase.
Background of Strive
Founded in 2022 by Vivek Ramaswamy, Strive markets itself as an anti-ESG asset manager. The company incorporated Bitcoin into its treasury strategy in May 2025 during its merger with Asset Entities. Later, in September, Strive struck an all-stock deal estimated at $1.3 billion to acquire Smeler Scientific, a medical device firm that controls approximately 5,000 BTC.
Upon receiving shareholder approval for the merger in January, the combined entity's BTC reserves totaled around 12,800 BTC, nearly triple Strive's initial holdings.
Recent Bitcoin Market Activity
Prior to this recent transaction, Strive acquired 3,311 BTC worth about $280 million at an average price of $84,500 each. For the coins purchased during the current acquisition, the last 1,223 BTC were procured at an average price of about $81,734.
In related news, Strategy, which is recognized as the largest corporate Bitcoin holder, also made a move last week, purchasing 267 BTC for about $22.1 million at approximately $82,900 per coin, raising its total to 848,517 BTC. Additionally, Strategy allocated $193.1 million for repurchasing its preferred stock and increased its buyback program from $2 billion to $3 billion.
Market Impact and Industry Updates
On October 15, MSCI, a leading index provider, introduced a new guideline affecting companies that lack substantial operating assets. This adjustment will see these non-operating firms excluded from its indexes by November 30, potentially influencing how public companies, like Strive, are viewed by investors and their subsequent stock performance.
