Neo Group has launched its investment banking division, appointing Vikas Khattar to lead the venture.
Neo Wealth and Asset Management has officially entered the world of investment banking, marking a significant step in its goal to broaden its financial services portfolio. The company has appointed Vikas Khattar as Co-Founder and Executive Vice Chairman for its new investment banking division.
Leadership Under Vikas Khattar
Khattar will oversee the establishment of the investment banking franchise, focusing on key areas such as equity capital markets, mergers and acquisitions advisory, and private equity fundraising. Based in Mumbai, he will also play an integral role in the executive leadership team of the Neo Group.
Bringing over three decades of experience, Khattar has a robust background in investment banking, having held senior roles at well-known financial institutions including DSP Merrill Lynch, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, HSBC, and Jefferies. His extensive experience spans investment banking and capital markets across both South Asia and Southeast Asia.
Throughout his career, Khattar has led over 400 transactions, which include initial public offerings (IPOs), mergers and acquisitions, and capital market placements.
Khattar's Recent Achievements
Before joining Neo Group, Khattar was heavily involved in the executive leadership committee at Ambit, where he was responsible for the Equity Capital Markets and Financial Sponsors Coverage sectors while also co-leading the Investment Banking division. He served on the board of the Association of Investment Bankers of India, acting as Vice Chairman from 2022 to 2025.
A Vision for Comprehensive Financial Services
Nitin Jain, the Chairman and Managing Director of Neo Group, emphasized that the launch of the investment banking branch is a major milestone in their aspiration to establish a comprehensive financial services institution. Jain said the firm plans to align its operations with client needs, underpinned by a commitment to clarity and transparency in advisory roles.
Khattar also shared his insights on the future of India’s investment banking and capital markets, predicting that the next decade will be defined not only by large deals but also by entrepreneurs seeking capital through both private and public funding avenues, as well as through business consolidations. He expressed his enthusiasm for Neo Group’s focus on cultivating long-term relationships with clients instead of merely concentrating on transactional engagement.
The addition of the new investment banking division complements Neo Group's existing wealth and asset management services, creating a more holistic financial services ecosystem.
