Mastercard and BVNK have introduced a groundbreaking platform for seamless fiat and stablecoin transactions.

Mastercard and BVNK Unveil Innovative Payments Platform

Introducing the Mastercard Global Money Platform

Mastercard has officially launched the Mastercard Global Money Platform, in collaboration with BVNK, the stablecoin infrastructure company they acquired in August 2026. This platform is designed to streamline the way banks, fintechs, and businesses handle both fiat currencies and stablecoins.

A Unified API for Payments

The Global Money Platform provides a single API that enables users to hold, convert, and spend various currencies, including stablecoins. It represents the first significant integration of capabilities between Mastercard and BVNK since their partnership began.

Businesses can seamlessly integrate multi-currency accounts, facilitate real-time conversions, and utilize stablecoin-linked cards for local payouts. This flexibility allows companies to manage their treasury functions and handle payments all within their own branded environments.

Customizable Features for Businesses

One of the platform's key advantages is its modular approach. Companies can start with essential features and expand as their needs evolve. This design minimizes the hassle of requiring different providers for various aspects of money management.

Among the initial adopters of the platform are notable firms like Nuvei and Marqeta, along with Ontop, Beem, and Almond FinTech. They are leveraging the platform to enhance their financial services offerings.

The Core of the Platform: Global Money Account

At the heart of the Mastercard Global Money Platform is the global money account, allowing businesses to hold fiat and stablecoin balances together. The account enables conversion through a streamlined API and offers customizable rewards and features.

Fintech and technology companies can integrate this account into their services, providing their customers with a centralized solution for holding, converting, and disbursing earnings.

For instance, a manufacturer dealing with multiple currencies traditionally would need separate accounts and providers for each market, often tying up valuable working capital. This new platform centralizes liquidation management, receivables, and payouts, significantly enhancing operational efficiency.

Connecting Payments Globally

The platform is linked to Mastercard Move, the company’s comprehensive money transfer suite, which services more than 17 billion endpoints worldwide. Users can leverage their stablecoin reserves to facilitate local currency payments directly into recipient bank accounts.

Mastercard anticipates expanding payout options to include over 40 currencies in more than 200 countries and territories by 2027, significantly broadening operational reach for businesses.

Expanding Acceptance and Future Vision

Customers will also have the capability to utilize their stablecoin balances across Mastercard’s extensive acceptance network, which includes hundreds of millions of merchants. The card issuing services available span more than 130 countries.

Chris Harmse, Co-founder and Chief Business Officer of BVNK, highlighted the significance of the platform by stating, “Global Money Platform will become the single infrastructure layer not just for stablecoins, but for every form of money.”

Raj Dhamodharan, Executive Vice President of Blockchain and Digital Assets at Mastercard, added, “We believe the future of commerce will be built on interoperability across multiple forms of money. This platform is a pivotal step towards realizing our vision of a multi-money strategy and fostering the next generation of programmable commerce.”

Looking ahead, Mastercard and BVNK are set to introduce support for agentic commerce and explore additional regulated financial forms, including tokenized deposits.
