Webull, the self-directed brokerage and trading platform, is expanding its Canadian services to include cryptocurrency trading. The firm said its Canadian crypto offering will be built on Coinbase’s Crypto-as-a-Service infrastructure, with Coinbase supplying the underlying trading and custody services.
Webull’s Canadian site currently lists 10 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH) and Solana (SOL), and indicates additional assets will be available. The move adds digital assets to Webull’s existing Canadian lineup of stocks, exchange-traded funds and options, giving retail clients access to both traditional and crypto markets in one platform.
Webull pointed to rising crypto adoption in Canada as a driver of the expansion, citing research from the Ontario Securities Commission showing digital-asset ownership climbed to about 25% this year from roughly 10% in 2023. Canadian regulators have been working to clarify rules for the sector, including plans for a federal stablecoin framework. While Canada does not yet have comprehensive rules for fiat-backed stablecoins, the Stablecoin Act proposed after the 2025 federal budget would establish requirements for both domestic and foreign issuers.
