Surge in Bitcoin ETF Inflows Recovers Past Losses
US Bitcoin ETFs rebound with nearly $550 million in inflows, while Ether ETFs see continued outflows.
Significant Recovery for Bitcoin ETFs
In a remarkable turnaround, US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have attracted close to $550 million over just two sessions. Following a significant outflow of $228.6 million last week, the recent inflows signal a positive shift in investor sentiment towards Bitcoin.
On Monday, the ETFs drew in an impressive $526.6 million, driven largely by BlackRock’s IBIT fund, which captured approximately $665.16 million. However, the pace slowed on Tuesday, leading to an additional $23.16 million in net inflows, bringing the total to $549.76 million for the two days.
Current State of the Market
As of now, Bitcoin ETFs have amassed net assets totaling $106.28 billion, representing around 6.38% of the total Bitcoin market capitalization. The transaction volume for these ETFs surged to $1.92 billion by Tuesday.
Despite these promising returns, the gains come after a challenging period marked by significant withdrawals. Over the past two weeks, Bitcoin ETFs had lost approximately $910 million, indicating the fickle nature of institutional capital in the crypto space.
Ether ETFs Struggle
On the other hand, Ether ETFs continue to face challenges, suffering outflows of $129.41 million since the beginning of the week. On Tuesday alone, Ether funds saw net withdrawals of $26.13 million, marking the fifth consecutive session of losses.
The withdrawals from the Ethereum side primarily stemmed from BlackRock’s ETHA fund, with $33.02 million exiting. Meanwhile, Fidelity managed to attract $3.63 million through its FETH fund, and Grayscale’s Ethereum Mini Trust added $3.25 million. Yet, these numbers pale in comparison to the losses experienced.
Looking Ahead
The contrast between Bitcoin and Ether is stark: during a period when Bitcoin funds have rebounded significantly, Ether funds remain in the red. Investors seem to be increasingly favoring Bitcoin, as it continues to reclaim capital while Ether struggles.
As we move further into the week, the performance of these ETFs will be closely monitored to see if Bitcoin can maintain this positive trend, or if the volatility that has characterized the cryptocurrency market will cause another shift in investor behavior.
