New Frontiers in RWA Tokenisation: Solana, Tether, and XRP Ledger's Rise
A recent report reveals significant shifts in the RWA tokenisation market, with Solana leading the charge.
The landscape of real-world asset (RWA) tokenisation is undergoing a transformative shift. A recent report highlights that funding and user engagement are moving away from Ethereum, with new players, particularly Solana, stepping into the limelight.
Solana Takes the Lead
Between October 18 and 25, Solana attracted a remarkable $453.5 million in inflows, which corresponds to an impressive 73% of the total across the top ten blockchains. Following Solana, Stellar made a notable contribution with $124.5 million, showcasing its growing presence in the market.
Meanwhile, XRP Ledger entered the top ten for the first time, albeit with more modest inflows of $131,000. This indicates a significant gap when comparing the appeal of different blockchain networks during this reporting phase.
Shifts in Market Capitalisation
In the tokenised stock market, the flow of funds reflects a notable trend. Ethereum’s market capitalisation saw a slight decrease of $26 million, while liquidity transitioned to other platforms: BNB Chain captured $135.9 million, and Solana harvested $55.8 million. This liquidity movement provides a clearer picture compared to simple price fluctuations.
In addition to substantial capital flows, Solana also leads in user growth. It added a staggering 114,600 shareholder addresses within just seven days. The Backpack platform followed suit with an addition of 58,500 user addresses, further expanding Solana's ecosystem.
Stablecoins and User Growth
When it comes to stablecoins, the dynamics of issuance and user expansion are distributed among various participants. Paxos emerged as the frontrunner, boosting its market capitalisation by $249.8 million, thus capturing 65% of the overall growth among the top ten issuers. Notably, this expansion predominantly occurred on the Arbitrum and Solana networks.
Tether, on the other hand, made headlines by dramatically increasing its user base. It accounted for 90% of new wallet inflows within the top ten issuers, adding 1.7 million new wallets in just one week. BNB Chain served as the primary infrastructure supporting these transactions, welcoming 1.3 million new addresses, while Tron and Solana attracted 212,000 and 184,000 addresses, respectively.
Institutional Inflows Continue
Institutional participation in the realm of tokenised funds remains strong. Noteworthy investments include Franklin Templeton, which contributed $33.9 million, and JPMorgan, with a slightly smaller investment of $33.6 million—together, these contributions comprised nearly half of the overall weekly growth in the market. Additionally, smaller independent funds, such as Spiko, have also recorded impressive increases of 491 addresses.
The report emphasizes that within the RWA market, liquidity flows in two distinct directions: towards issuers with the largest supply and toward blockchain platforms that can offer lower transaction costs. This emerging trend points to a clear preference for large issuers and new users gravitating toward more cost-efficient networks.
Future Directions in RWA Market
The competitive landscape of the RWA market is evolving beyond mere issuance size. Factors such as which blockchain networks tokenised assets are associated with and which platforms can attract liquidity and new wallet addresses are becoming critical in reshaping this landscape. As the market matures, these elements will continue to influence the dynamics of asset tokenisation moving forward.
