TAIPEI, April 24, 2026 — HOYA BIT, a Taiwan-based cryptocurrency exchange, has become the world’s first crypto exchange to earn the BSI ISO 14068-1 carbon neutrality certification. Bryn Sutton, Vice President of BSI, and Aiman Ali, Global Head of Sustainability, traveled to Taipei to present the certification, highlighting BSI’s formal recognition of HOYA BIT’s sustainability program.
To meet ISO 14068-1 requirements, HOYA BIT established formal carbon governance, full life-cycle emissions disclosure, transparent reporting and independent third-party auditing. The exchange adopted SBTi-aligned methodologies, invested in Gold Standard carbon offset projects and prioritized measurable renewable energy initiatives that contribute toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
BSI, the world’s first national standards body whose certifications are used by global technology companies such as Microsoft and Google, requires organizations to disclose comprehensive emissions, set a credible emissions reduction pathway and submit to external verification. HOYA BIT’s program was audited against those standards and validated as meeting the new international benchmark for carbon neutrality.
Founder Zoe Peng led the company’s sustainability strategy. “The digital asset industry must meet market expectations for governance, accountability and transparency with internationally recognized, verifiable actions,” Peng said, adding that trust is built by consistently demonstrating those actions.
HOYA BIT was also invited to BSI’s 125th anniversary celebrations, underscoring Taiwan’s role in global conversations about sustainable governance. The exchange said it will continue enhancing carbon disclosure, pursuing emissions reductions and expanding opportunities for users to participate in carbon-reduction initiatives.
