Bitget Wallet Offers Users Personal USD and EUR Accounts for Easy Stablecoin Transfers
Bitget Wallet now provides users with personal account numbers for USD and EUR, converting deposits to USDT or USDC instantly.
Bitget Wallet, a self-custodial cryptocurrency wallet, has introduced an innovative feature that grants users unique USD and EUR account numbers. These accounts enable easy bank transfers that automatically convert incoming deposits into popular stablecoins like USDT or USDC. This service, known as Virtual Account, has been facilitated through a partnership with payments provider Noah.
How the Virtual Account Works
Starting today, users can make incoming transfers via ACH, Fedwire, SEPA, and SWIFT networks. While users can currently receive funds, outbound transfers will be implemented in the coming months, according to Bitget Wallet’s announcement. Opening a Virtual Account is free, and there are no local residency requirements, making it accessible to a broad audience.
Once funds are received, they are converted into stablecoins. This allows users to maintain their holdings in USDT or USDC rather than traditional fiat currencies. The accounts will play a significant role in the wallet's payment ecosystem, facilitating payments for debit cards, QR transactions, transfers, yield-generating products, and various investments.
Target Audience of the New Feature
Bitget Wallet is particularly targeting freelancers who receive payments from US and European employers, individuals in developing regions receiving financial support from abroad, and those who wish to transition bank savings into stablecoins without using an exchange platform.
In terms of transaction costs, a $500 ACH transfer incurs approximately $2 in fees from Bitget Wallet, although sending banks and blockchain networks may impose additional charges. To celebrate the launch, the company plans to refund transaction fees for the first 1,000 eligible users who meet the deposit criteria.
“For many users, especially in regions with limited access to dollar accounts or cross-border banking, having these payment channels integrated within a self-custodial wallet enhances their participation in the global financial system,” said Alvin Kan, COO of Bitget Wallet.
Noah's Role in the Development
Shah Ramezani, the founder and CEO of Noah, emphasized that their product essentially functions as a global neobank while allowing users to maintain control over their private keys. Noah has established itself as a prominent provider of fintech solutions, holding money transmitter licenses in nearly 30 states in the U.S., and has expanded its offerings into Canada and Lithuania.
This is not Noah's initial venture into offering virtual accounts; they had previously introduced similar services to users of Ledger Wallet and Fin.com.
Bitget Wallet's User Base and Security Measures
Bitget Wallet boasts a considerable user base of over 100 million users globally. To enhance user confidence, they have established a $300 million protection fund, designed to cover losses caused by issues directly related to the Bitget Wallet platform. It is important to note that this wallet operates separately from the Bitget exchange, which recently reported a loss of approximately $388 million.
This latest feature from Bitget Wallet highlights the growing trend of integrating stablecoin capabilities into cryptocurrency wallets, making it easier for users to navigate the evolving financial landscape.
