Bitcoin Price Outlook: What Can We Expect by 2028?

Explore Bitcoin's potential price trajectory by 2028, considering recent trends and market dynamics.

Bitcoin's Recent Performance

Over the past three years, Bitcoin has experienced a remarkable increase of 114.2%. This rise includes significant developments such as the launch of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in January 2024, alongside a notable peak in 2025.

Impact of Federal Reserve Rates

The Federal Reserve currently has an upper target interest rate of 4.00%. This marks an increase from 3.75%, which was maintained throughout much of 2026. Interest rates have a substantial effect on Bitcoin’s market performance. Typically, high rates can negatively impact Bitcoin prices, while lower borrowing costs tend to enhance its attractiveness.

Additionally, the M2 money supply, which encompasses cash and deposits, reached $23.41 trillion in September 2026. This suggests that liquidity is growing at a sluggish pace, which can further influence the crypto market.

Market Volatility Concerns

Recent spikes in market volatility, exemplified by the VIX index, have raised concerns for Bitcoin’s recovery. On November 5, this index jumped to 28.18, a significant increase from 16.61 the day before. Such volatility reflects growing uncertainty in the markets and may delay Bitcoin’s path to recovery.

Despite signs of easing selling pressure, a lack of appetite for risk among investors could restrain Bitcoin's potential to reach substantial milestones like $100,000.

Will Bitcoin Surpass $100,000 by 2028?

When analyzing Bitcoin's trajectory towards the end of 2028, it seems possible for its price to exceed $100,000. However, reaching $150,000 may be more challenging under the current climate. For Bitcoin to continue gaining momentum, it needs to reclaim its 50-day moving average, currently at $82,003. Surpassing the one-year high of $105,951 could be aided by continued ETF inflows and a potential cut in the Fed’s interest rate.

Should demand for ETFs wane and interest rates remain elevated, Bitcoin could face a test of its critical support level at the 200-day moving average of $73,197. Falling below this marker might set Bitcoin on a course where $50,000 becomes a concern. Given the inherent unpredictability of the markets, shifts in rates, investor sentiment, and market flows can happen unexpectedly, adding complexity to these forecasts.

For a more optimistic outlook for Bitcoin hitting the $100,000 mark, sustaining a close above $82,003 is essential, along with cumulative ETF inflows surpassing $57.96 billion. Meeting these criteria would bolster the case for Bitcoin achieving six figures.
