Bitcoin ETFs Rebound with $1 Billion Inflows, October Turnaround
Bitcoin ETFs have reversed losses from October with $1 billion in inflows over three days, while Ethereum sees modest recovery.
In a surprising turnaround, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs have bounced back significantly, recording over $1 billion in inflows within a mere three days. This influx of capital has not only erased previous losses but has also flipped the month into positive territory.
Massive Inflows Fill October Gap
On Wednesday alone, Bitcoin ETFs attracted $524.8 million, escalating the total inflows since Monday to approximately $1.07 billion. This impressive recovery follows a challenging period where the funds experienced a decline of about $615 million, indicating a much-needed resurgence.
Previously, Bitcoin ETFs had suffered from a sharp dip, losing approximately $910 million over the last two weeks. Now, these funds have rebounded, showing an overall gain of around $460 million for October.
The most significant contribution came from BlackRock’s IBIT, which accounted for the entire $526.7 million influx on Monday. Currently, the cumulative net inflows since the launch of these ETFs stand at an impressive $58.4 billion, with total assets now reaching $100.8 billion.
Market Confidence Grows Amid Volatility
This wave of investment appears to align with increasing confidence from institutional players. J.P. Morgan Asset Management recently provided a long-term outlook for Bitcoin, projecting a compound annual return of 10% over the next decade to 15 years, despite anticipating a high volatility of around 55%.
Ethereum and Market Performance
In a more encouraging turn for Ethereum, ETFs focused on this cryptocurrency recorded a modest inflow of $14.9 million, ending a five-day outflow streak that had drained nearly $389 million from the market. Nevertheless, Ethereum ETFs still face a substantial deficit for the month, down approximately $1.07 billion overall, with total cumulative inflows measured at $12.8 billion.
Despite this positive occurrence, the cryptocurrency prices have not shown significant upward momentum. Bitcoin traded around $81,470 on Thursday, marking a 2.4% drop in the last 24 hours, although it remains up 2% on the weekly scale. Just yesterday, Bitcoin reached a high of nearly $85,000.
Ethereum also faced pressure, slipping 2.6% to roughly $2,393, while the overall crypto market capitalization fell by 2.9%, now sitting at about $2.84 trillion. Among the top 10 cryptocurrencies, Zcash experienced one of the largest declines, plummeting 5.6%, even as it enjoys a weekly increase of nearly 14%.
Traders Remain Cautious
Looking ahead, traders participating in Myriad, a prediction market, appear to be cautious. They assign Bitcoin only a 20% chance of breaking above $87,500 before the end of this month, while the odds for a surge to $90,000 are at just 9%. On the downside, they estimate a 35% probability of Bitcoin falling to $77,500, while it briefly dipped below the $80,000 mark last week.
On a more optimistic note, sentiment for Ethereum remains slightly brighter, with traders giving ETH a 61.3% chance of rising to $3,000 before potentially dropping back to $1,500.
What Lies Ahead
A key event to monitor is the upcoming Federal Reserve meeting scheduled for October 27-28, which could influence market conditions. Continued inflation pressures may usher in expectations for a further increase in interest rates.
