Bitcoin Dips Below $81K as Analysts Predict Support Retest

Bitcoin experienced a dip below $81,000, prompting analysts to highlight a potential retest of support levels.

Bitcoin has recently dipped below the $81,000 mark before rebounding slightly to around $81,300. This fluctuation has led market analysts, including Benjamin Cowen, to emphasize the significance of a daily close beneath the 50-day moving average. Such a scenario could pave the way for a decline towards the bull market support zone.

Market Movements and Analysis

According to CoinGecko, Bitcoin's daily low reached $80,989 after experiencing a peak of $84,788 within a 24-hour span. Despite recovering to $81,305, Bitcoin still faced a daily decline of approximately 3.5% at the time of reporting. This brought Bitcoin slightly above $80,000, with its lowest value just $989 over that threshold.

On the Ethereum front, the cryptocurrency remained under $2,400, closing at $2,380.48, marking a decline of 4.4% in the same time frame. Both Bitcoin and Ethereum managed to recover from their earlier declines, but concerns about support levels remain.

Cowen’s Warning Signals

In a recent update on social media, Cowen highlighted the importance of Bitcoin's daily closing price in relation to its 50-day simple moving average. He stated that if Bitcoin were to close under this average, it would likely move towards the bull market support band. His analysis positioned Bitcoin around $81,098 during the trading day, underlining the uncertainty of market dynamics.

Cowen also pointed out that other markets, including Ethereum, were testing their respective support bands, indicating a broader trend across different cryptocurrency assets. Earlier observations noted sentiment weakening around the $82,000–$82,500 region. Research from Bitget Wallet noted that if Bitcoin falls below this area, it could significantly drop towards $80,000.

Future Buy Orders and Projections

Trader Mr. Wall Street shared insights on his positioning, stating that he holds Bitcoin purchased between $60,000 and $64,000. He highlighted a trading range for Bitcoin between $80,000 and $87,000. Notably, he indicated that he has buy orders set between $72,000 and $76,000, contingent upon the market reaching these levels. His strategy suggests a longer-term optimistic outlook, as he aims for a first target of $93,000 without specifying a precise timeline.

Mr. Wall Street illustrated horizontal price zones for Bitcoin, depicting his intended purchasing strategy without verifying broader market demand at those prices. His commentary indicates potential volatility in the current trading environment.

Resistance and Recovery Challenges

Bitcoin’s earlier attempts to hold above $83,000 faced challenges as it fell back towards $82,600. An earlier report noted a rally in U.S. stocks, which momentarily allowed Bitcoin to rise but was followed by a retreat. Analysts, such as trader Ardi, pointed to a significant resistance level at $84,200 that Bitcoin needs to overcome to reverse its bearish trend.

Strength in U.S. fund investments appeared to weaken during October. One source cited a considerable reduction in weekly spot Bitcoin ETF inflows, highlighting the drop from approximately $2.39 billion in late September to just $241.1 million by October 2. These figures indicate that insufficient spot buying has hindered Bitcoin’s recovery, although futures markets are still seeing activity.

Looking Ahead: Predictions and Speculations

Amid these developments, analysts are also keeping an eye on longer-term forecasts regarding Bitcoin's price trajectories. A recent prediction from the Kobeissi Letter indicated only a 3% chance for Bitcoin to reach $130,000 by 2026, a stark contrast to initial expectations for significant recovery this year. This prediction reflects a cautious sentiment in the market, showcasing the challenges Bitcoin still faces.

The crypto market is inherently volatile and responsive to myriad factors. As investors watch closely for key price levels and market trends, the next days will be critical in determining whether Bitcoin can find its footing or will see further declines.
