TAIPEI, April 24, 2026 — HOYA BIT, a Taiwan-based cryptocurrency exchange, has become the world’s first crypto exchange certified to BSI ISO 14068-1 for carbon neutrality. Bryn Sutton, Vice President of BSI, and Aiman Ali, Global Head of Sustainability, traveled to Taiwan to present the certification in person, underscoring BSI’s formal recognition of the company’s achievement.
HOYA BIT embedded carbon governance, enhanced transparency, and independent third-party auditing into its daily operations to build a repeatable, trustworthy framework for the digital asset sector. These measures form the foundation of its verified carbon-neutral status and aim to raise accountability standards across the industry.
BSI, the world’s first national standards body, issues certifications that are widely used as benchmarks for digital governance; major technology companies such as Microsoft and Google reference BSI standards when assessing compliance and best practices.
ISO 14068-1 requires organizations to disclose full life-cycle greenhouse gas emissions, define a credible reduction pathway, and submit to third-party verification. Under Founder Zoe Peng’s leadership, HOYA BIT adopted the SBTi methodology for emissions reduction and used Gold Standard carbon-offset projects, while prioritizing measurable renewable energy initiatives that support progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals.
Zoe Peng said the milestone shows the industry can meet expectations for governance, accountability and transparency ‘‘in an internationally recognized and verifiable way.’’ She emphasized that maturity in digital assets depends not only on product innovation but on consistently demonstrable, verifiable actions that build trust in platforms.
HOYA BIT was also invited to participate in BSI’s 125th anniversary events, a sign that Taiwan’s digital asset industry is engaging in the global conversation on sustainable governance. Going forward, HOYA BIT plans to expand its carbon disclosure, deepen support for renewable initiatives, and offer users additional ways to participate in carbon-reduction efforts, making sustainability a shared and actionable commitment.
