Trump Media & Technology Group, the company behind Truth Social, moved another tranche of Bitcoin as it continues a months‑long selloff. Blockchain analytics firm Lookonchain, citing Arkham data, reported the company transferred 2,628 BTC—about $165 million—to Crypto.com.
Lookonchain’s analysis said Trump Media originally acquired 11,542 BTC at an average cost of $118,522 per coin. The firm began liquidating portions of that position roughly seven months ago. Over that period Trump Media has sold a total of 7,281 BTC, which Lookonchain values at roughly $545 million and calculates an average selling price of $74,855 per BTC.
Arkham’s ledger snapshots showed the company’s remaining Bitcoin holdings at 4,261 BTC at the time of reporting, with an estimated market value of $269.8 million. Two recent on‑chain transfers from Trump Media‑linked wallets to Crypto.com were identified: one for 2,429 BTC and another for 198.9 BTC. These moves follow earlier transfers on May 22 that together sent about 2,650 BTC—worth roughly $205 million at the time—to the same exchange.
The sales come amid heightened scrutiny of crypto interests tied to former President Donald Trump and related entities. Lawmakers are debating the Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act, which has prompted discussion about tightening ethics rules, digital asset ownership disclosure, and potential conflicts of interest for public officials. Critics have highlighted projects associated with Trump or his affiliates—such as the Official Trump (TRUMP) and Melania (MELANIA) memecoins, plus tokens tied to World Liberty Financial (WLFI) and a proposed USD1 stablecoin—when raising concerns about the overlap of political influence and private crypto ventures.
Supporters of tougher rules say new legislation should clarify conduct and disclosure requirements for officials connected to digital assets. Opponents and some observers note the CLARITY Act is still under consideration and does not currently require companies to divest existing crypto holdings.
