TAIPEI, April 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — HOYA BIT, a Taiwan-based cryptocurrency exchange, announced it has become the world’s first crypto exchange to receive BSI ISO 14068-1 carbon neutrality certification. Bryn Sutton, Vice President of BSI, and Aiman Ali, Global Head of Sustainability, traveled to Taiwan to present the certification, underscoring BSI’s recognition of HOYA BIT’s efforts.
HOYA BIT has embedded carbon governance, transparency of information, and third-party auditing into its core operations to create a credible framework for the digital asset sector.
BSI, the world’s first national standards body, issues certifications that serve as benchmarks for digital governance compliance and are recognized by global technology leaders such as Microsoft and Google.
ISO 14068-1 requires companies to disclose full life-cycle carbon emissions, define a carbon reduction pathway, and submit to independent audits. Under Founder Zoe Peng’s leadership, HOYA BIT adopted the SBTi methodology and invested in Gold Standard carbon offset projects while prioritizing renewable energy initiatives with measurable contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals.
“The digital asset industry can respond to market expectations for governance, accountability and transparency in an internationally recognized and verifiable way,” said Zoe Peng. “The key to industry maturity is not just functional innovation — it is consistently demonstrating, through verifiable actions, that a platform can be trusted.”
HOYA BIT was invited to take part in BSI’s 125th anniversary celebration, signaling Taiwan’s entry into global discussions on sustainable governance for digital assets. The exchange said it will continue enhancing carbon disclosure and offering users multiple ways to engage in carbon reduction, making sustainability a collective, actionable commitment.
