PHILADELPHIA, April 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Kroll Settlement Administration, on behalf of the United States Department of Justice, issued this notice about the OneCoin Cryptocurrency Remission Program (“Remission Program”).
What is this about?
The Department of Justice has opened a petition-for-remission process to compensate victims who invested in the fraudulent OneCoin cryptocurrency between 2014 and 2019. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York prosecuted OneCoin-related criminal cases.
Between 2014 and 2019, Ruja Ignatova, Karl Sebastian Greenwood, and others ran an international fraudulent cryptocurrency investment scheme that marketed and sold bogus OneCoin tokens, causing significant investor losses worldwide. The U.S. Attorney’s Office pursued criminal forfeiture of fraud proceeds; the net proceeds of forfeited assets will be available to compensate victims through the remission process. Victims may file petitions for remission to seek compensation.
Who is eligible for compensation?
Victims who purchased OneCoin between 2014 and 2019 and suffered a net loss after accounting for any withdrawals or recoveries may be eligible. Filing a petition does not guarantee payment. The Department of Justice and the Remission Administrator do not charge fees to file a petition or participate in the process. You do not need an attorney to file.
What options do victims have?
– Submit a Petition Form by June 30, 2026: To participate, submit a completed petition form verifying monetary losses incurred because of the scheme. Include documentation supporting all claimed losses. Petitions can be submitted by mail or online at www.onecoinremission.com.
– Do Nothing: If you choose not to participate, you need not file a petition. If you do not submit a petition, you will not be considered for compensation.
