SINGAPORE, April 30, 2026 — VerifyVASP, a leading provider of Travel Rule compliance infrastructure, has acquired Sygna, a Japan-based specialist in virtual asset compliance solutions. The deal expands VerifyVASP’s global footprint and consolidates capabilities across key regulated markets, reinforcing its role as core compliance infrastructure for Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs).
Unifying the Travel Rule ecosystem
The acquisition advances VerifyVASP’s effort to reduce fragmentation in the Travel Rule market by building a single, interoperable network that aligns with national requirements, Financial Action Task Force (FATF) standards, and global data protection rules. Central to the combined offering is VerifyVASP’s Verified Network, a global platform that enables secure, real-time, standardised information exchange between VASPs. Integrating Sygna’s technology and Japanese market coverage increases the network’s scale, geographic reach and regulatory depth, strengthening network effects and compliance capabilities.
Operational continuity and phased onboarding
Sygna’s existing members will continue to operate without disruption. Over time, they will be progressively onboarded onto the Verified Network in line with local regulatory requirements. The transition is intended to boost cross-border connectivity and interoperability, enabling VerifyVASP members to access a wider set of regulated counterparties, reduce friction in cross-border transfers, and streamline compliance workflows.
Positioning as a global standard for Travel Rule compliance
The combined company positions itself as a leading standard-setter for Travel Rule infrastructure. VerifyVASP’s CEO Shih Yun Chia said the acquisition underlines the company’s commitment to an objectives-based, globally connected network at a time when international bodies, regulators and financial intelligence units are strengthening enforcement. Michael Ou, Sygna’s founder and CEO, said the merger will broaden the reach and impact of Sygna’s Japan-built compliance infrastructure, enabling stronger support for VASPs seeking secure and efficient Travel Rule adherence.
Looking ahead
As regulatory expectations evolve, VerifyVASP intends to continue building a connected compliance ecosystem to support VASPs, financial institutions and regulators in fostering secure, transparent digital asset markets.
