Ran Neuner, founder of Crypto Banter and host of CNBC’s Crypto Trader, said he’s finding it increasingly difficult to explain Bitcoin’s value as its narrative shifts.
“I don’t know how to answer that question. That’s the problem,” Neuner told Cointelegraph when asked why people should buy Bitcoin.
Bitcoin has been pitched as both peer-to-peer money and a gold-like store of value. Neuner said those roles are harder to reconcile when BTC’s price doesn’t reliably move with traditional safe-haven assets.
“The biggest crisis that I have at the moment is justifying to myself what Bitcoin is and where Bitcoin derives its value from,” he said.
He urged investors to avoid short-term price calls and focus on positioning, data and risk management instead. Neuner pointed to macro forces — geopolitical tensions, oil prices and inflation — as primary market drivers, saying capital flows often signal more than headlines.
Looking forward, he suggested technologies like artificial intelligence could change crypto use cases, including autonomous agents transacting on blockchain networks.
