Geneva, Dec. 2, 2025 — Mt Pelerin today announces the launch of personal crypto IBANs that let users turn self-custodial wallets into universal accounts able to send and receive funds across both blockchain and traditional banking rails.
This new capability preserves self-custody — full ownership and control of one’s funds without third-party custodians — while bridging the gap to the conventional banking system. By assigning an IBAN to a wallet, users can transact with the wider financial world while keeping crypto assets under their direct control.
Key features
– Create a personal EUR or CHF IBAN and attach it to any self-custodial wallet.
– Receive bank transfers to your IBAN that are directly converted into crypto on your own wallet.
– Send bank transfers from your IBAN using crypto held in your wallet.
– Payments show up as standard bank transfers from an IBAN in the user’s name; crypto settlement occurs seamlessly in the background.
Practical details
– EUR and CHF IBANs are issued in Switzerland (SEPA zone).
– Both individuals and organizations can obtain an IBAN.
– Users worldwide can request an IBAN, except from a list of excluded countries.
– The IBAN is provided free of charge.
– Conversions between fiat (EUR/CHF) and the ZCHF stablecoin are free; standard fees apply for conversions involving other cryptocurrencies.
– The IBAN can be linked to any self-custodial wallet and used with 30+ cryptocurrencies across 15 chains.
– The IBAN is not a bank account and does not need to be declared as one.
– Available via app.mtpelerin.com and the Mt Pelerin mobile wallet app.
Why this matters
Giving a wallet its own IBAN makes self-custody more practical for everyday use — payroll, payments and transfers can flow through traditional bank rails while settlement and custody remain under the user’s control. This feature supports Mt Pelerin’s mission to make self-custody a viable, easy-to-use alternative to traditional accounts.
