KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, April 21, 2026 — Hata, Malaysia’s only dual-licensed digital asset exchange, has closed a USD 8 million (≈ RM31.6 million) Series A round led by Bybit with participation from several global family offices. The funding strengthens a strategic partnership aimed at growing Malaysia’s digital asset ecosystem in a responsible, scalable way.
Bybit, the world’s second-largest crypto exchange by trading volume and an earlier participant in Hata’s USD 4.2 million seed round, said the investment reflects its conviction in Malaysia’s digitally engaged population and long-term potential for digital asset adoption. Bybit co-founder and CEO Ben Zhou highlighted that combining Hata’s local market leadership with Bybit’s technology and product expertise will help accelerate development of Malaysia-focused digital asset offerings and tokenised real-world asset opportunities.
Hata intends to use the Series A proceeds to deepen platform liquidity, fund marketing and ecosystem initiatives to accelerate user growth, and jointly develop digital asset products tailored to Malaysian users alongside Bybit. David Low, Hata’s CEO, said the partnership validates Hata’s approach to building a compliant, licensed platform with strong investor protections.
