Liberty Global will start offering more Google hardware through its retail units.
Google Cloud, Alphabet’s cloud computing unit, and Liberty Global, one of Europe’s largest telecom groups, have entered a five-year strategic partnership to modernize Liberty Global’s European telecom and TV business using Google’s AI and cloud technology, Reuters reported Monday.
The partnership will deploy Google’s Gemini AI models and cloud tools across Liberty Global’s European operations, which handle about 80 million fixed and mobile connections.
Liberty Global expects the deal to reduce costs, upgrade networks, and deliver smarter consumer services, including AI-powered search and discovery on its Horizon TV platform and improved customer support.
As part of the agreement, Liberty’s operating units will carry more Google products, such as smartphones, watches, and smart home devices.
The move reflects telecom operators’ growing reliance on AI to boost network efficiency, enhance customer experience, and create new revenue streams.
